Our Story

I grew up in a creatively rich environment in Topanga Canyon, California. My mother was a consummate seamstress making all our clothes and everything in the house. My father was an engineer, and I was often in his workshop watching him create in metal and in wood. I attended design schools both interior design and fashion design. My focus was always on functional design. In 1983 I designed the Carogi Bag which is the ultimate in form and function. This ignited the spark to create other multi-function bags.

My biggest love is working with textiles of all sorts, both leather and fabric. Over the years I have acquired a collection of rare vintage fabrics circa 1950-1970, along with smooth and textured leathers. These I incorporate into my limited editions.

In 1988 I married Bernhard (the Big German) as he is affectionately called. His German background brings his precision eye to the finishing of the bags both in the binding and in the setting of the hardware. Together we make a team to bring you the Carogi Bag label of unique and distinctive multi-faceted handbags.
